Are you looking for the best Pilates in Sydney? You have found it! Discover Pilates® specialises in small equipment-based, group Pilates classes. We ensure excellent results for our students by tailoring each session to the needs and goals of the individuals, and limiting each class to 4-5 participants. Students may book a class at a time that suits them (what we call a ‘Private Pilates class’), or join one of our timetabled small-group classes (what we call a ‘Studio class’). All classes are 1 hour in duration and bookings are essential.

Classes and fees:

Studio Pilates classes are held at scheduled times throughout the week, at a cost of $44 per class per student (if paid for casually), or $40 per class per student if a block of 10 classes ($400) is purchased.

Private Pilates classes may be booked at any time outside of our Studio Pilates class timetable (subject to instructor availability). Private class fees vary depending on the number of students in your group: $90 per class for a 1 on 1 private class, $130 per class for 2 students ($65 each), $150 for 3 students ($50 each), or $160 for 4 students ($40 each).

To ensure the quality of each class, student numbers are limited to 4-5 (for both private classes and studio classes), and each student must attend an initial consultation (a 1 on 1 private class) during which your instructor will discuss with you your needs and goals.

    Alex Donald

    Physiotherapist Alex Donald

    After completing a degree in Exercise and Sports Science Alex went on to complete a Masters of Physiotherapy in 2008. This gave Alex a unique perspective on the cause and treatment of sporting injuries across a vast array of sports.

    Working closely with Olympic physios he gained valuable experience and has treated a number of elite athletes through Physiotherapy and Clinical Pilates. Sports related injuries are a keen interest of Alex’s and he has a lot of experience in the assessment and treatment of neck, back and join pain.

    Matthew Abeshouse

    Physiotherapist Matthew Abeshouse

    Matthew Abeshouse is a passionate physiotherapist, with over 5 years experience. He brings an analytical approach that focuses on addressing your problem from the root cause. He has a keen interest in the management of spinal related pain and the treatment of neck pain, and often attends and completes relevant courses to bring you the most up-to-date research. As a Physiotherapist and a Pilates Instructor, he focuses on delivering individualised and specialised treatment and exercises to support you to reach your goals.

    Matthew has completed further postgraduate training in manual therapy and dry needling, and pairs these skills with a focus on exercise therapy. This has provided him with skills to work with patients of all ages and across all walks of life, although he particularly enjoys treating athletes and weekend warriors.. As an expert in human movement and function, Matthew believes exercise and Clinical Pilates is often the key ingredient that will guide you towards recovery and will work with you to develop a program that can allow you to excel.

    Adele Hvistendahl

    Physiotherapist Adele Hvistendahl

    After injuring her back in a fall 16 years ago, Adele started attending Pilates classes to strengthen her core and correct her posture. Through these classes she found she had a passion for what she likes to call “active treatment” – using exercise as medicine.

    Adele has 14 years experience in Pilates and was driven to complete a degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney. Adele is passionate about Pilates and the results it can deliver to people from all walks of life.

    Yonit Nahmias

    Physiotherapist Yonit Nahmias

    Yonit has over 6 years experience working as a Physiotherapist in Israel and 5 years experience as a Pilates Instructor. She has worked with people from all age brackets and fitness levels. She has experience in treating respiratory, neurological, orthopaedic, and developmental conditions.

    Yonit focuses on developing realistic, specific and measurable goals with her patients. These allow her to individualise and tailor each Pilates class to ensure you reach your goals!

Whether you’re looking for a traditional Pilates experience, are preparing for or recovering from birthing, or are recovering from injury or training for a sports competition, you’ll find that Adele, Yonit, Matt and Alex can tailor your class to work towards your specific goals – and you’ll have a great time too!

How to get started:

Experience has shown that regardless of your reasons for commencing Pilates, if learn the basics really really well you’ll achieve better results. For this reason we insist that every new student attends a 1 on 1 initial consultation during which your instructor will discuss with you your needs and goals and either teach you the basics (if you are new to Pilates) or or assess where you’re up to (if you’ve done Pilates before). The initial consult is $50.

For your first class, you should aim to arrive ten minutes early to to complete some paperwork. We recommend you wear comfortable exercise clothing that lets you move freely, and bring a pair of clean socks with you to wear during the session. Change rooms are available for your use if required.
